So we're not expecting too much change this week. Someone has done an inspection and looks like they have picked up quite a few of the imperfections. Can't wait to see if they got them all. We are having our inspection on 28th of November, not sure yet what time but I am assuming SS Dave might let us know soon, as usual for our build I guess I'll have to ring him and find out. If I have not heard from him by Friday I'll give him a buzz.
In preparation for our PC inspection we headed off last weekend and did the display homes again. We wanted to check if our issues were a standard issue or not. Its funny what you don't see at the beginning of the process, some good some bad. We found that the bathroom mirror is not centered on the wall at the display so there is no point winging about the placement of mine - we should have known, also that it is not standard practice to have conduit running up the back of the microwave space, 1 display home in the 7 that we looked at did but at least it was white and they had a microwave with surround to block the view so I will be discussing that one further. Other than the bricks I am hoping there is not too much to be fixed after the inspection.
We spent quite a bit of time researching before selecting builders, MJH won out over Metricon for 2 reasons, we loved the design and we had found a number of people with issues that were resolved quickly by MJH. I'm not stupid enough to think that everyone can do it perfectly all the time but it was comforting to see so many people with great building supervisors and issues looked at so quickly.
WAITING WAITING WAITING.....every week of this build has seen changes that have seen us anticipating what is due to come next. For those of you building out there plan a holiday for this week. Because the house is basically complete there is nothing going on....The only things left that I can see are
Driveway needs to be coated with parchem,
Some screens need to be installed,
The kitchen drawer inserts (2 @ $250) need to be delivered - Yes I am crazy
The cut out behind the fridge needs to be finished off
Fridge Tap to be installed
Paint and plaster repairs as picked up by inspection
Painting of the pillars
and the fixing of bricks.
I cant wait till Thursday, sent an SMS last night to find out what time so I can organise some time away from work. We have an auditor in on that day so it will be nice to get away. I'm not sure if I am more excited about finally getting the keys or the month off work once we move in. In the 11 years at work that will be my longest break...wonder how that will go?
