Week 15

Wow, week 15 goes down as the best week of our build yet...Unfortunately not because of the build but because my son became the father of the most handsome baby TEDDY JAMES SCOTT born on 19th of October at about 11.18am.

Its been quite a busy week at home as I guess anyone can imagine, the house is quite full now the baby has arrived (which I love of course). I'm so proud every time I see Kyle and Taylor with the baby it makes my heart melt. I thought the mother was meant to be emotional but this time its me (Nan)

Back to the build. Its been 3 weeks since I reported my concerns relating to the brickwork to the site supervisor. The first week he was on leave so I had to speak with my CLO who was going to follow up with him the following week. The second week I spoke with the SS and he was going to "have a look", he didn't get back to me so the CLO was once again going to ensure he followed up. I have to be honest and say he did call me but just gave me an update on where the build was up to, no resolution on brickwork. Third week the SS was going to call me and meet onsite to go through my concerns. Of course I am still waiting. I think we have decided that we will wait until PCI inspection and then hopefully they might listen, if not I'll have to get a building inspector to complete a report for me.

It is disappointing that we have had such great customer service in all other aspects but this one I consider a major issue and it appears to be ignored by the SS.

The issues if you are interested are
1. 1 x Brick in front corner of house laid back to front (easy fix I believe)
2. 1 x Brick at front window laid back to front (easy fix I believe)
3. All Mortar joints are poor - no expansion material or roughly inserted expansion material.
4. Mortar to waist high is perfect (ironed) as we expected. From waist high it is quite rough and does not appear to be ironed. (bigger issue)
5. At the front Left garage pillar 6 rows from the top there are about 5 rows of bricks laid in a wave. (must have had an afternoon drink before doing this)
6. Chips at the garage door the size of a golf ball.
7. Mortar from Alfresco to Laundry Cracked everywhere - looks like crap.
8. Window sill at back window has a hump in the middle
9. There are quite a few bricks not laid straight around the whole build - The ones at the front and back are the ones that concern me the most.
10. Around the doors and window sills and at random locations around the house there are gaps with no mortar at all.

Rant over - just in case you managed to read this far down.....
Other than that it has been quite a busy week on the building site. The super tradies  have laid the drive this week, started painting, finished (finally) the eaves, rendered and installed my timber piers.

While we were in Brisbane last week the tilers finished in the bathroom and laundry.  I have to say MJH do have the best tilers, all perfectly straight and look great.

Its funny, we read often that the painters are onsite Sunday's painting. I didn't believe it but we arrived this morning to have look around there they were, sanding and painting away. It looks like the colour was worth the effort (I certainly hope so), guess I'll know in about a week only 2 coats to go.
