I'm so happy I could cry, finally there is some resolution for my saga's. MJH have agreed to come back and do some more work on the front and today they rendered the back of the house.
21st of October I received a call from our MJH contact. I should get a call from Richard this week to organise rendering across the front of our house. Not what we wanted but probably the best solution to ensure we can end the ongoing stress.
I have to say that even with these problems I am extremely happy with my choice to use MJH. I direct all my angst directly at one person only and am not convinced that any other builder would have worked as hard as the MJH maintenance supervisors to rectify issues. While it has been slow to come to a final resolution they have met me onsite regularly and spoken to me at every stage. Once the render and painting is done there is very little to be fixed up. Everything outside has been on hold waiting for the Brick issue to be resolved but they were only minor things so no drama there.
What I have learnt that you should take with you to prevent the ongoing drama's
1. Have an independent building inspector inspect the house at least once during your build. When the bricks are laid before the internal linings go in.
2. Do not listen to your building supervisor when they say its not necessary. It is illegal for them to prevent a building inspector coming onsite, if they are watching their trades they should have nothing to hide.
3. Bricks should be cleaned shortly after they are laid, they should not wait too long as the concrete sets hard
